July 23, 2019 – Under the Radar Hitters of the Day

*Top Hitter of the Day*

  • Nic Ready, 1B – Batavia Muckdogs – Miami Marlins – – 3-5, 2 HR (3,4), 2B, 2R, 6RBi – – The 6’3″- 220 lb. Air Force Academy draftee this last June logged his first two-homer game as a pro and also set a short career high in RBi in Batavia’s 8-3 victory over West Virginia. The twenty-third rounder’s three home runs in his last two days also helped him overtake the New York-Penn League lead in total bases (73) over Vermont’s Jordan Diaz (71) who went 1-3 with a walk in Vermont’s 12-2 loss to Hudson Valley.

California League:

  • Xavier Edwards, 2B – Lake Elsinore Storm – San Diego Padres – – 4-5, R –
  • Matt Hearn, CF – Lancaster Jethawks – Colorado Rockies – – 3-3, 2 2B, 2R, 3RBi, 2BB –
  • Ramon Marcelino, RF – Lancaster Jethawks – Colorado Rockies – – 3-4, HR (13), 2B, 3R, RBi, K –
  • Eduardo Diaz, CF – Visalia Rawhide – Arizona Diamondbacks – – 1-4, HR (1/8), R, RBi, K –
  • Donovan Casey, LF – Rancho Cucamonga Quakes – Los Angeles Dodgers – – 2-4, HR (18), 2R, RBi, K – – The round twenty pick in 2017 out of Boston College separated himself further from the pack last night blasting his eighteenth homer in the fifth; and leading off the Quakes half of the first with a single helped pad his Cal League lead in total bases at 189.
  • Jeter Downs, SS – Rancho Cucamonga Quakes – Los Angeles Dodgers – – 2-4, HR (16), R, RBi, K –

Carolina League:

  • Michael Osinski, 1B – Salem Red Sox – Boston Red Sox – – 2-3, 2B, 2R, BB, K – – You have to go with what you’re given sometimes. With 60 percent of the  games either rained out or suspended, Osinski, the Red Sox 2017 – 31st rounder out of Longwood University (VA) had pretty much the only noteworthy performance from what was a rather pitcher-heavy Tuesday night in the Carolina League.

Florida State League:

  • Royce Lewis, SS – Fort Myers Miracle – Minnesota Twins –– 1-4, HR (9), R, RBi, K – (Game 1) –
  • Demi Orimoloye, RF – Dunedin Blue Jays – Toronto Blue Jays –– 2-3, HR (8), 2R, RBi –
  • Ryan Noda, LF – Dunedin Blue Jays – Toronto Blue Jays –– 1-3, HR (10), R, 2RBi, 2K – (Game 1) –
  • Mason Martin, 1B – Bradenton Marauders – Pittsburgh Pirates –– 3-7, 2 HR (2,3/25,26), 2R, 3RBi, 3K – (combined lines) –– Martin is riding a modest four-game hit streak, and appears to have found his home run stroke again, blasting a home run in each game of Bradenton’s double-header split against Clearwater Tuesday. The 6’0″- 200 lb. lefty’s third HiA home run in Game two, his twenty-sixth overall, now ranks him fourth overall in the minors, and he’s only 20 years old. If you haven’t already, it’s time to scoop Martin up and stash him in dynasty leagues, even if it’s just for trade fodder with hopes of capitalizing off his immense power potential.
  • Dylan Rosa, RF – Lakeland Flying Tigers – Detroit Tigers –– 4-7, 2 HR (9,10), 2R, 2RBi –
  • Jose Garcia, SS – Daytona Tortugas – Cincinnati Reds –– 2-4, 2B, R, 3RBi, K –– The Reds unranked prospect’s double in Daytona’s five-run second inning last night vaulted him into the Florida State League lead in the category with 26. In fact, 37 percent of the Havana, Cuba native’s hits have been two-baggers, and after doing this kind of damage in the pitcher-friendly FSL this season, the 21-year-old righty may not find himself unranked for very long.

Midwest League:

  • Kristian Robinson, RF – Hillsboro Hops – Arizona Diamonsbacks – – 3-4, HR (8), R, 4RBi, 2 SB (7,8) – – Three of Robinson’s eight home runs on the season have come over his last four games, where he’s also scored three runs and driven in eight.
