He’s currently batting .365, posted his first five-hit game as a pro in last night’s slugfest loss (14-13) to Staten Island, is riding a five game hit streak, and has a hit in all but three games since being drafted.

Already the leader in runs scored (63), doubles (26) and batting (.323), Vavra now leads the Sally in total bases (155), on-base percentage (.405) and ranks second in OPS (.905) behind Kannapolis outfielder Alex Destino (.910) and hits (100), behind another Intimidator, Ian Dawkins, who has 109 heading into Sunday’s games.

He has nine on the season, and when Mason Martin took 23 homers with him HiA, Texas prospect Gonzalez now sits in sole possession of first, leap frogging Boston teen phenom Triston Casas (16) last night with his fourth two-homer game of the season. The 6’5″- 190 pound 21-year-old led off Hickory’s matchup versus Delmarva, lining a 2-0 pitch over the left center field wall with his sixteenth bomb of the season, then clubbed his second of the night, (his seventeenth overall), in the third with one out and a runner on second.
