    • – The 19 year old from Havana, Cuba fell a single shy of hitting for the cycle and hit two homers for the first time in his career in Great Lakes 9-3 win yesterday over Fort Wayne. Ranked #27 on the Dodgers Top 30 prospects list over at MLB Pipeline, Vargas displayed his plus bat-to-ball skills collecting four hits for the first time this season, and the third time since turning pro. He posted a five hit game July 15 of last year versus Helena while with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League. With Vargas’ four hits, the Loons contest Monday versus the TinCaps will now feature the top two hit leaders in the Midwest League. Vargas, who has 87 hits and overall hit leader, Fort Wayne second baseman and Padres #8 overall ranked prospect Xavier Edwards, who sits on 95. Edwards and Vargas actively rank one and two in the MWL in batting as well, with Edwards holding a .337 average, with Vargas sitting 19 points behind at .318.
