  • Cole Roederer, CF – South Bend Cubs – Chicago Cubs –– 5-5, HR (3), 3B, 2 2B, 3R, 4RBi –– The Cubs Round 2C selection in 2018 hit for his first career cycle in last night’s 10-4 victory over Fort Wayne (SD). The 6’0″- 175 lb. William S. Hart HS grad doubled in his first at-bat, scoring third baseman Christopher Morel in what was a four-run top of the first for South Bend. Roederer singled in the top of the third, laced his second double of the night in the fifth, then belted his third homer of the season in the seventh, scoring Morel once again after he lined a one-out single to center. The Cubs headed to the ninth with a comfortable 8-2 lead, but Morel and Roederer weren’t finished, leading off the ninth inning with back-to-back triples. Morel scored and Roederer touched home for South Bend’s tenth run on right fielder Jonathan Sierra‘s sac fly to right field. Cubs reliever Ivan Medina gave up two runs on three hits in the bottom of the ninth, but secured South Bend’s 40th victory of the season.
