June 19, 2019 – Under the Radar Hitters of the Day

*Top Hitter of the Day*

  • Jhailyn Ortiz, DH – Clearwater Threshers – Philadelphia Phillies – – 2-4, 2 HR (9,10), 2R, 4RBi, BB – – Ortiz is another top prospect (see Lewis below) playing in the FSL who’s struggled to get things going all season. The eleventh ranked prospect in the Phillies system (Pipeline), the 6’3″- 215 lb. righty clubbed two home runs in a game for the first time in his career. Ortiz’ two blasts drove in four runs, while leadoff hitter, shortstop Nick Maton drove in four of his own, knocking his fourth home run on the year, a grand slam over the right field wall in the second inning, helping lead Clearwater to a 12-7 win over Bradenton.
  • The Cal League, Carolina League, Midwest and South Atlantic Leagues are off for their All-Star festivities and all resume play on June 20.

Florida scored two runs in the fourth and added two more in the seventh, but Daytona came out the winner, improving to 37-31 with a 5-4 victory.
