  • Gareth Morgan, CF – Inland Empire 66ers – Los Angeles Angels – – 2-5, HR (6), R, RBi, 2K – – Morgan hit his third home run in two days and all five of his homers on the season have come with his new home, Inland Empire. Morgan was released from his contract with the Seattle organization on April 19, only to be picked up by the Los Angeles Angels ten days later. He batted a putrid .074 in Modesto’s first eight games of the season, but the time off and a new setting must have flipped a switch. Morgan is batting a combined .231 on the season, but for the 66ers, has ten hits in 25 at-bats (including all of his home runs), ten of his 12 runs scored and 12 of his 15 RBi’s on the season, all coming within his last six games. 

California League:

Florida State League: 

  • The Florida State League played their annual all-star game last night with the South squad coming out on top. Florida State League total bases leader, Fort Myers’ (MIN) Lewin Diaz got things started early, lifting a sacrifice fly to center scoring Bradenton’s Calvin Mitchell in the bottom of the first, giving the South a 1-0 lead. In the second, Pirate’s prospects struck again, as 2018 – first rounder out of South Alabama Travis Swaggerty lined an 0-2 pitch over the right field wall to up the South lead to 2-0. South pitching held North hitters to only three hits giving the South victory.
