      • – The Yankees unranked prospect registered his fifth three-hit game of the season, highlighted by the first two-homer game of his career in Charleston’s commanding 10-0 win over Greenville. The 2017 – fourth rounder out of Rockwall-Heath HS (TX) also scored three runs and drove in a season high four, but Smith wasn’t the biggest story of the game. Yankees top pitching prospect Luis Medina got back on track after starting the season 0-4, tossing six innings of no-hit ball, issuing two walks and striking out three, notching his first win of the year, and locking down a 1-0 Riverdogs win. Reliever Ron Marinaccio relieved Medina in the seventh, keeping the Greenville lineup off balance, giving up only one hit, (a one-out single to designated-hitter Devlin Granberg in the top of the seventh), walking one and striking out four to earn his first save on the season.

      • – The 20-year-old third rounder in 2017 out of Parker HS (San Diego) laced a two-run triple in Stockton’s four-run fifth and added to his California League leading doubles total to lead the Ports to an 8-4 victory over Modesto.  The 5’8″- 165 lb. righty popped out to a rehabbing J.P. Crawford lead off the game, but in the third, scored on right fielder Alfonso Rivas‘ ground out after lacing his nineteenth double on the season to center. Allen flied into a double play in the sixth, then came up again in the ninth and rapped his second double of the day, and twentieth on the season, to left, moved to third on a Rivas sac fly to center, then scored his third run of the night on Modesto reliever Joey Gerber‘s wild pitch. Allen has collected a hit in 15 out of his last 18 games currently ranks second in the Cal League in total bases (111) behind Lancaster’s Luis Castro

      • – Martin jacked his South Atlantic League leading seventeenth homer and added a double yesterday, despite the Grasshoppers falling to Kannapolis by a score of 14-6. Martin’s first inning two-run shot that scored Pirates #14 ranked Lolo Sanchez, was his first since June 1 versus Lakewood. Martin heads into Friday’s game against the Intimidators leading the Sally League in total bases (129) and carries a .586 extra-base percentage in 62 games this season.

      • – Now that he’s fully healthy, Gigliotti is putting on full display the skills that Kansas City saw when they drafted him in the fourth round out of Lipscomb University (TN) in 2017. The 6’1″- 180 lb. lefty has posted a hit in eleven straight games and riding a 22-game on-base streak heading into Friday’s matchup against Columbia. Gigliotti’s two stolen bases also added to his (firm) Sally League leading total of 28, ahead of second-place Lakewood (PHI) shortstop Jonathan Guzman (Lakewood) and Pittsburgh’s Lolo Sanchez, who both have 20.

Martinez’ led off the Indians half of the first with his fourth triple of the season. Second baseman Jesus Lara followed with a walk, then Martinez scored when shortstop and three-hole hitter Gabriel Rodriguez grounded into a double play. Martinez lined a one-out double to right in his next at-bat in the third, scoring designated hitter Derian Perez, who singled to open the inning. Martinez eventually scored on a two-out single by right fielder Skeilling Rodriguez, but the inning ended when Rangers1 right fielder gunned down Rodriguez at third on the Skeilling hit. Martinez singled in the fifth, walked in the seventh, rapped his second triple of the day and scored his third run of the day in the ninth, but the Indians fell short by a score of 8-6.
