- Nolan Gorman, 3B – Peoria Chiefs – St. Louis Cardinals – – 2-3, HR (9), 3B, R, 3RBi, 3BB, K, SB (2) – – St. Louis’ top overall prospect proved why he’s just that, clubbing his Midwest League leading ninth homer along with his second triple (and second stolen base) of the season last night versus Beloit; and it could be a strong sign that the 2018 – first rounder out of O’Connor HS (Phoenix, AZ) is finally breaking out of his 4-for-37 slump (.108) dating back to May 1.
California League:
- Luis Campusano, C – Lake Elsinore Storm – San Diego Padres – – 1-3, HR (3), 3R, 2RBi, 2BB, 2K – – The Padres second round draft pick from 2017 belted his third home run of the season, his first since April 20, and scored three runs in Lake Elsinore’s 9-4 win over Stockton. The 6’0″- 215 lb. righty started of the season white hot, batting .474 over his first 10 games, but has cooled down considerably, batting .243 since. He carries a .321 average on the year and still ranks as one of the top catchers in the Cal League this season thus far.

Well, I’m strongly considering placing Duran’s name into those drafts, as he’s been a near constant fixture so far this season. But who can blame me? Our 2018 Organizational All-Star not only leads the Carolina League, but all the minors in batting (.410), and leads the league in stolen bases (13) and runs scored (35). The 6’2″- 200 lb. lefty has also reached base in 18 out of his last 20 games.

- Nick Maton, SS – Clearwater Threshers – Philadelphia Phillies –– 3-4, HR (3), R, 2RBi, SB (6) – – Maton has been scorching hot lately, posting his seventh multi-hit game in a row last night and his second consecutive three-hit effort. The 2017 – seventh rounder out of Glenwood HS (IL) clubbed his first home run since April 15 and heads into Wednesday’s matchup ranked fourth in the Florida State League in batting (.324). He’s also one of only five prospects in the FSL with an on-base percentage above .400 (.405).
