Cal Raleigh, DH – Modesto Nuts – Seattle Mariners –– 2-4, 2 HR (6,7), 2R, 5RBi –– Seattle’s thirteenth overall and top ranked catching prospect came into the weekend 5-for-31 in his previous eight games (.161), but broke out of his slump with a solo home run Saturday in the first inning, and kept the power surge going Sunday with the first two-homer game as a pro along with a career high five RBis, leading Modesto to a win over Lancaster (21-16). The 6’3″- 215 lb. switch-hitter did all of his damage early clubbing his first of the day in the bottom of the first, scoring third baseman and Nuts leadoff hitter Joe Rizzo, giving Modesto a 2-0 lead. After a leadoff ground out by second baseman Matt Sanders to open the second inning, right fielder Ariel Sandoval doubled, then moved to third on catcher Manny Pazos‘ single. Shortstop Jhonny Adams then singled, scoring Sandoval and moving Pazos to second. Third baseman Rizzo flied out to center, moving Pazos to third; and with two outs and runners on the corners, the 2018 – 3rd rounder out of Florida State belted his second round-tripper of the day over the right field fence, giving Modesto a six run lead; and it was all Modesto needed as five Nuts pitchers scattered six hits over nine innings, giving up four earned runs to help secure a 6-4 victory.
