  • Kody Clemens, 2B – Lakeland Flying Tigers – Detroit Tigers – – 4-5, 2 HR (2,3), 2 2B, 3R, 2RBi, K, SB (4) – The 2018 – third rounder out of the University of Texas logged the second two-homer game of his career yesterday versus Bradenton, helping lead Lakeland to a 10-5 victory. The son of former great Roger Clemens, the 6’1″- 170 lb. lefty led off the second inning with his first homer, then doubled to lead off the fourth. He added another double in the fifth and sent another ball over the fence to lead off the seventh. He struck out in the ninth, but ended his night with not only two home runs, but the first four-hit game of his young career. 

California League:

  • Lazaro Armenteros, LF – Stockton Ports – Oakland A’s – – 2-3, HR (7), R, 3RBi, 2BB, K –– The Athletics number four overall prospect’s three run homer in the first inning off Mariners #30 ranked Ljay Newsome pulled him into a three-way tie for the Cal League home run lead with Modesto Nuts centerfielder  Luis Liberato, who also holds the Cal League total bases lead (53) and Visalia shortstop Camden Duzenack (seen below), who’s celebrating his last hurrah as a UTR qualifier as a 24 year old. Yesterday’s was the shortest outing of the season for the 22-year-old Newsome, having gone no less than five innings in all six of his previous starts. The 22-year-old righty and two-time UTR OAS (2017 and 2018) scattered six hits, gave up five earned runs over three innings, falling to 4-2 on the season, but struck out five and walked none to add to his stellar 2019 WHIP (0.93) and K/9 numbers (13.6).
