TOP NL UTR PITCHING PERFORMANCE

LHP Diego Cordero (LoA Peoria – St Louis) 21 year old
6.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 9 K, 1.46 ERA, Win 2-1
  • Cordero came within two outs of completing a 7 inning no-hitter, but was pulled at the bottom of the 7th after giving up a hit to Beloit’s Wadye Ynfante.  The 2014 International free agent marked a career-high with 9 strikeouts. After 3 seasons in the Dominican Summer League, the 6′ 3″ 175 lb lefty made his U.S. debut last season and saw work across 2 rookie levels and reached HiA Palm Beach for two starts. Cordero, seeing his first full season, was roughed-up by Beloit (4 ER in 5.1 IP) during his first start of 2019. Since then, the 21 year-old southpaw has not allowed an earned run in 20 innings and picking up two wins in three starts.

TOP AL UTR PITCHING PERFORMANCE

RHP Mitchell Jordan (HiA Stockton – Oakland) 24 years old
6 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, 5.48 ERA, Win 2-2
  • Jordan was able to keep the ball in the yard in getting his second win in five starts. The 10th round pick in 2016 has served-up 7 home runs over his last three starts (12 IP), prior to last night. The 6′ 1″ 210 lb right-hander matched his career-high ten strikeouts over six shutout innings. After a horrible 2017 season (5.78 ERA in 25 appearances), Jordan repeated at LoA Beloit last season and improved across the board and was a UTR Organizational All-Star. Despite troubles with the longball, Jordan is holding his own in the hitters paradise of the California League (.296 BABIP, 8.6 H9, 12.1 K9, 4.43 K/BB).
