National League – Top Hitter of the Day

  • Osvaldo Santilien, RF – DSL D-backs1 (ARI) – Dominican Summer League
    • 3-6, 3 HR (1,2,3), 3R, 5RBi, 3K 
    • The 19-year-old Dominican’s three home runs led the way yesterday as the Dbacks1 cruised to a 15-7 win over the DSL Reds. After beginning his day with a strikeout to end the top of 1st, the 6’3″- 195lb. righty led off the the 3rd inning with an opposite field home run. Santilien was called out on strikes to end the 5th, but belted his second home run of the night to lead off the 8th inning. Then in the 9th, Santilien hit his third homer on the night, a one-out three run shot, in a four-run inning. 

American League – Top Hitter of the Day

  • Alan Mejia, LF – DSL Yankees (NYY) – Dominican Summer League
    • Hit for the cycle 
    • 4-4, HR (1), 3B, 2B, 3R, 3RBi
    • In his third game as a pro, the 6’0″- 165 lb. 17-year-old hits for his first career cycle in an 11-2 drubbing of the DSL Twins. Mejia led off the bottom of the 2nd with a double, then scored on a one-out Marjo Morillo sacrifice fly. Mejia then led-off what would become a two-run 4th with his first homer of the season. In the 5th, Twins reliever Giovahniey German entered the game and posted a wild pitch and two hit-batsmen, allowing a run to score, before Mejia hit a run-scoring triple. Mejia added  an RBi single in the 7th to complete his cycle.
