• Jonah Davis, CF – Rookie Bristol Pirates (PIT) – Appy League

  • In three seasons at the University of California, the 5’10”- 180 lb. lefty batted an even .300 with 16 home runs, 16 stolen bases and a .415 on-base percentage. When the Pirates selected Davis in 15th round in 2018, the organization was getting average to above average skills across the board: a great athlete, above average power with the potential to be a plus skill, a good glove, above average speed and an average arm. In other words, a HUGE bargain based on how he’s performed thus far this season. In 14 games, Davis currently leads the Appalachian League in home runs, batting (.443), SLG% (.885) and OPS (1.340). Fourteen of Davis’ 27 hits have gone for extra-bases and he also carries a pristine fielding percentage with zero errors in 21 total chances in centerfield.

  • Add Boston’s 2018 – 4th rounder out of the University of Kentucky to the list of players this season who’ve fallen a single shy of hitting for the cycle. The 6’3″- 220 lb. righty started off his night with a fly out to right field to end the top of the first inning. Cottam’s first hit came in the third as he laced a two-out triple to center field which scored first baseman Devlin Granberg. Cottan grounded out to short to end the fifth, but belted a leadoff homer in what would be a 3-run eighth inning, which helped Lowell secure a 6-4 victory over Auburn (WAS). Cottam then ended his night with a two-out double in the ninth.
