- Lillie has already made his way into the HiA level by receiving a promotion at the end of June. His first Jupiter start didn’t go well with only seeing 3.1 innings by allowing 8 hits and 3 earned runs. Last night went much better, in setting a career-high with nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings. The Marlins minor league Top UTR Pitcher for May first foray in full season started at LoA Greensboro with a relief appearance at the end of last season. Back with the Grasshoppers to start 2018, Lillie went 6-2 with a 2.58 ERA and 77 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 80.1 innings.
- The Batavia Muckdogs (Marlins) ran into a buzz saw last night in Chance Kirby. The 25th round pick from last month made his NY-Penn League debut by whiffing 12 Muckdog hitters. Kirby made his pro debut in the Gulf Coast League where he made 3 appearances (1 start), going 12.2 innings and allowing only one ER and striking out fifteen. Not bad for a kid that signed for $1500.
