- Marvel had the best outing of his career tossing a one-hit gem over seven innings, while racking up the most strikeouts in any of his 54 starts over three seasons. A true under-the-radar arm, as a 36th round draft pick back in 2015, the 6’4″ 197 lb. righty is getting his second taste of HiA Bradenton after seeing four starts there in 2017 (1.50 ERA and 3.20 K/BB). Marvel was a 2017 UTR Organizational All-Star and 2018 Two-Start Treasure for May 15-21.
- The 7th round pick in 2017 out of Southern Miss snapped a three game losing streak last night, setting a career-high in strikeouts. Before this outing, McCarty lost five out of his last six outings, but has been pitching well. In his last five starts, the 5’10”- 185 lb. lefty posted a 1.55 ERA with 35 strikeouts and only two walks in 29 innings. His only bad start during that span was a 3.2 inning affair (June 27th) where he gave up 10 hits, but only allowed two earned runs.
