- Shaffer was the Diamondbacks Top UTR Pitcher for May. The 6th round pick in 2017 has a really good chance to repeat for June, in which I’m currently getting ready to post. For June, the 6’5″ 200 lb righty made 5 starts and posted a 3.23 ERA with 30 strikeouts and only 1 walk in 30.2 innings. He’s rolling into July, because over his last 22 innings, Shaffer has only allowed 1 earned run (0.41 ERA).
- The 12th round pick from last year had his best outing of his pro career last night. The 6’8″ 215 lb right-hander makes his 4th UTR mention this season (2nd Top Performance) and also marked a new career-high with 12 strikeouts.
