National League – Top Hitter of the Day: 

• Grant Lavigne, 1B – Rookie Grand Junction Rockies (COL) – Pioneer League4-5, HR (3), 2B, 2R, 5RBi, SB (1) 
• • Originally a Wake Forest commit, the Rockies CBA pick from the 2018 draft has begun the year on fire. In games where’s he’s collected a hit, it’s been two (or more). He’s had two hitless games (June 25 and June 28) and last night the 6’4″ – 220 lb. lefty recorded his first career 4-hit game. The Bedford HS (NH) alum has played only played eight games so far in the Pioneer League season, but pound-for-pound, he’s one of the biggest producers at the plate. Pretty impressive for an 18-year-old right out of high school. 

American League – Top Hitter of the Day: 

• Chris Williams, 1B – Rookie Elizabethton Twins (MIN) – Appy League3-5, 2 HR (3,4), 2R, 5RBi 
• • After beginning his collegiate career at Golden West (Junior) College (CA) – where he batted .319 with 4 home runs and 32 RBi in 42 games – Williams transferred to Division I powerhouse Clemson in his sophomore season, and in three seasons with the Tigers (169 games), he batted .264 with 40 homers and 161 RBi. Intriguing though is that Williams spent four years of college ball as a catcher, even drawing Mike Napoli comparisons. But when Twins chose the 6’1″ – 225 pounder in the 8th round (2018), they announced him as a first baseman. Regardless of the position though, he hasn’t stopped hitting, as he’s  batting .286, is one of the early league leaders in homers, total bases and currently leads the league in RBi (15) and walks (8).
