- Guzman is beginning to build some momentum, hopefully getting back to his 2016 form, when he came state-side. Already with his 3rd team in 4 seasons, the 6’2″ 182 lb Dominican righty matched his career-high in strikeouts with 10 on June 11th. Guzman was in the Astros system for two seasons before being sent to the Yankees where he spent one season in 2017. He’s capable of missing bats, with evidence of his 12.2 (2016) and 11.9 (2017) K9 rates. Guzman isn’t near those numbers with Jupiter in 2018, but he’s near a K per inning. Considering the 22 year-old skipped over LoA, those previous rates might be right around the corner.
- Taken in the 5th round in 2016, Balazovic spent his first two seasons as a pro with the GCL Twins. Recently placed within the rotation at Cedar Rapids, the 6’4″ 175 lb right-hander struck out a career-high 11 batters on June 11th. The Twins may have poached a gem from across the border in Canada from St Martin High School. His seven scoreless innings was also the longest outing of his short career. Definitely an arm to watch, as he begins to fill out that frame.

- Garcia is seeing his initial action of the 2018 season and is coming off a solid spot start with HiA Tampa on June 5th. His 10 K’s matched a career-high set in August 2016 while he was with the DSL Yankees. That was a good debut season for the teenage Dominican (2016 UTR Organizational All-Star) and I projected him to start the 2017 season in the United States. That promotion came after 3 more DSL starts and he was sent to the GCL Yankees and later to the Appy League. Garcia was much improved after that sesason and was named as my Yankees’ “One to Watch” for 2018
