  • When the Red Sox drafted the Long Beach State second baseman in the 7th round of the recent 2018 MLB Draft, the organization announced Duran as a center fielder instead. Although he was a three-year starter for the Dirtbags at second, posting a career .973 fielding percentage in 169 collegiate games, Duran’s standout tool is his 70-grade speed. So, the organization wants to take advantage of it and his bat won’t suffer as a centerfielder, as he batted a career .295 with two home runs and 49 stolen bases. In Lowell’s first game, Duran started at second, but expect a shift to the outfield.
