- Roegner came back to earth after pitching 7 scoreless outings in his first nine starts. In his last two starts, the 22nd round pick in 2016 allowed 9 earned runs over 10 innings, but he bounced right back to throw 8 scoreless on June 10th, the longest outing of his career. Roegner was a 2017 UTR Organizational All-Star and the Brewers Top UTR “Minors” Pitcher for April and May. Not much more to prove at HiA for the 6’6″ 205 lb left-hander, so a Double-A promotion could be soon. That’s fine, as he will soon turn 25 years old in late June and falls from the UTR criteria scope. But keep close watch, he could prove to be a nice end-game draft pick for 2019.
- Its only Solomon’s second mention here as the 4th round pick from 2017 is being stretched out to handle the workload of full season ball. The righty out of Notre Dame made only one start (1 IP) during his pro debut with the GCL Astros, due to the long NCAA season. His seven innings on June 10th was the longest thus far. Of his 7 starts in 2018, Solomon has an ERA of 2.30 over 31.1 innings, giving up 25 hits, 16 walks and 36 strikeouts.
DSL NO GAMES SCHEDULED Rookie Leagues -(GCL,AZL,Appy,Pioneer,Short-Season) Began on June 15th (Short-Season) Begins tonight – June 18th (GCL & AZL) June 19th (Appy League) LoA LHP Steve Moyers (LoA Clinton – Seattle) 24 years old 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 0.98 ERA, Win 1-0
- Moyers has made appearances with Triple-A Tacoma, Double-A Arkansas, and HiA Modesto before settling-in with Clinton. This was his only second start this season. 6’0″ 190 lb right-hander spent all of 2017 at Clinton mostly working from the bullpen, but was called upon to make a couple starts, as well.
Top Relief Pitcher Performance LHP Manuel Rondon (LoA South Bend – Chicago Cubs) 23 years old 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 2.84 ERA
- Rondon was my Cubs 2018 “One to Watch”, but far there inst anything to see, as the Cubs moved the Venezuelan lefty into the relief role for 2018. He came over from the LA Angels where he was a 2014 Organizational All-Star during his second season in the DSL.
RADAR BLIP RHP Chris Viall (LoA Columbia – New York Mets) 22 years old 5.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 3.14 ERA, Win 2-3
