Under the Radar Hitters of the Day – June 2, 2018

National League – Top Hitter of the Day: 

  • Ibandel Isabel, 1B – HiA Daytona Tortugas (CIN) – Florida State League2-3, 2 Hr (8,9/10), 2R, 6RBi, BB, K 
    • This is the second consecutive day the former Dodger prospect (and former UTROAS selection) had two home runs in a game. He came to the Reds in the deal that sent Dominican righty Ariel Hernandez to the Dodgers. Isabel came along with  Zach Neal, and while Neal, a 29-year-old, is toiling in AAA, Isabel is continuing to mash his way through another system, as he bashed 28 home runs for HIA Rancho Cucamonga last season. 

American League – Top Hitter of the Day: 

  • Ronaldo Hernandez, C – LoA Bowling Green Hot Rods (TB) – Midwest League3-3, 2 HR (5,6), 2R, 3RBi, BB
    • The 20-year-old catcher from Colombia is by far the top offensive producer at his position in the Midwest League and very well may be The next top catching prosoect in all the minors. He’s batting .310 on the season, has three home runs over his last two games, with 10 hits and 12 RBi over his last five. The 6’1″- 185 lb. righty is also a plus defender with a 2018 (and career) fielding percentage of .985. In fantasy leagues with minor league roster spots, Hernandez is an absolute must-add. 

National League:

    • Matias has a firm grip on the overall home run lead in the minors, belting his 16th (a 2-run shot in the second inning) and 17th (another 2-run blast in the 8th). The 19-year-old La Isabela, DR native sits above Mets Double-A Binghamton prospect Peter Alonso, who has 14, but hasn’t gone yard since May 26 versus Bowie.
