National League – Top Hitter of the Day:
- Keston Hiura, DH – HiA Carolina Mudcats (MIL) – Carolina League4-5, 2 HR (6,7), 3R, 2RBi
-
- What more can be said about Hiura. Here’s a kid who came into the 2017 draft with one of , if not the most pure bats, of the entire draft class. And he’s proven it in abundance. But as a prospect playing for a National League organization, he’s going to eventually have to play a position full-time. A second baseman with a lingering elbow issue, Kiura has mostly been a DH, has drawn Craig Biggio comps and that’s fine. However, it might be a stretch to compare a HiA prospect to a Hall of Famer when he’s DH’d almost twice as much as he’s played the field. I’m a big big Kiura believer. Of the 18 games he’s played at second base, he’s committed zero errors. But as prospect hounds, we want the whole package every day.
