- Hernandez had his besting outing of 2018 with six shutout innings. Over his last 17 innings, the 6’0″- 170 lb. southpaw has allowed only one earned run and is averaging just over a strikeout per inning (18 K’s). Hernandez went up against one of the Detroit Tigers top prospects in #2 ranked Matt Manning (see below). Manning also had one of his best starts of the season.
- I mentioned Rodriguez as the “outside guy looking in”, during the 2017 UTR Organizational All-Star ranking for the Astros. When top prospect Forrest Whitley (#1 UTR-OAS) was slapped with the 50-game suspension for violating the MiLB Drug Policy, Rodriguez was listed from his #6 ranking position. Qualifying at that position (after finishing the season with short-season Tri-City) placed the 6’0″- 160 lb. right-hander as my 2018 “One to Watch” within the Houston system. Hernandez made his first 2018 start last night tossing five scoreless innings.
