- Leave it up to the Cardinals organization to scour the Independent Leagues to find an arm like Warner. Signed last season, he quickly found his way to LoA Peoria and a relief appearance at Palm Beach. Assigned to Palm Beach this season, the 5’11” 185 lb left-hander threw his first complete game as a pro last evening. Warner has outstanding command of a high 80’s fastball, but his calling-card is his three secondary pitches. Warner currently has a 10.20 K/BB ratio over his 8 starts.
- Sotillet had the longest outing of his pro career last night with his three seasons in the Royals organization. As a 19 year-old, the 6’1″- 175 lb righty had a superb 2016 season in the Dominican Summer League which earned him the DSL Pitcher of the Year for the Royals. My system also liked what he did, which scored him a 2016 UTR Organizational All-Star ranking. He suffered a sophomore slump last season (6.67 ERA), but he did work his way across three rookie levels. The alarming fact thus far, is that he’s proving to be hittable. Not only did he endure an inflated ERA last season, but was torched with a 12.9 H/9 rate. The ERA has dropped thus far this season, but the H/9 hasn’t fallen to a reasonable rate. A promising stat in his first taste of full season ball would be the 8.6 K/9 and 1.0 BB/9 rates.
