- A 23rd round pick in 2017 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette makes his second top mention of 2018. The 6’3″ 210 lb righty matched his career-high by going 8 innings and allowing one earned run. Guillory went 2-1 with a 2.22 ERA, along with 26 strikeouts and 4 walks (24.1 IP), over 4 starts in April.
- Howard had a very strong April by making 3 mentions last month that bouyed his Top “Minors” National League Pitcher for April 2018 honor. Howard is proving to the California League hitters, that its tough to earn a hit off the 8th round pick (2017) from TCU. Maybe seeing pitches from the downward plane of a lanky (6’9″ 185 lbs) right-hand arm might have something to do with that. Howard’s 2.56 ERA currently ranks within the top five in the league, but its his 0.92 WHIP that’s best in the Cali League. Howard was my choice for the pre-season 2018 “One to Watch” for the Athletics.
