National League – Top Hitter of the Day: 

• Jasrado Chisholm, SS – LoA Kane County Cougars (ARI) – Midwest League3-5, 2 HR (5,6), 2R, 4RBi, 2K
• • I have to admit. I was a bit surprised when the Diamondbacks assigned the 5’11”- 165 lb. Bahamas native back to LoA Kane County this season. The organization loves his game: big swing with raw power, a good runner with raw speed, and a smooth plus defender with a strong arm. But a right knee injury (torn meniscus) limited Chisholm to only 29 games last season, where he batted only .248 with one home run and three stolen bases. I wouldn’t say the 20-year-old lefty is lighting the world on fire, but his stats show that a promotion to HiA might be on the horizon. He’s batting .275, has nearly doubled his extra base percentage (.566) from last season (.296) and his six home runs is two off the the Midwest League leaders, Hendrik Clementina (Dayton) and Brock Lundquist (Lansing).

  • Scanning down through the list of current Reds minor league outfielders, my hunch is that the former Wake Forest Demon Deacon could be the best of the bunch when it’s all said and done. In his pro debut last season, he batted .304 with 12 steals, three home runs and 36 runs scored. This year, Fairchild is batting .290, has already matched his 2017 stolen base total and has 13 extra base hits in 39 games, one more than he had in all of last season’s 56 games played.
