- Falter had a solid season in 2017 but fell short of the UTR Organizational All-Star roster for the Phillies. Looking to change, he’s off to another outstanding start and possibly place him amongst the Phillies top prospect pitchers. Over his last 3 starts (18.1 IP), the 5th round pick from 2015 has only allowed one run with 20 strikeouts and 4 walks.
- Filthy….plain and simple. Take it one step more….explosively filthy. That’s been Chris Paddack upon his return from Tommy John surgery. In tracking minor pitchers over these many years, I’ve never seen a more dominate arm returning this quickly back form. My system struck upon the Marlin’s 2015 8th round pick out of Cedar Park High School (Texas) after his debut season. It strongly suggested that I tab the 6’4″ 195 lb righty as the “One to Watch” heading into the 2016 season. Prior getting injured that season, Paddack posted a 0.85 ERA, 0.591 WHIP, and 14.20 K/BB ratio in 42.1 innings. The Marlins sent Paddack packing to San Diego at the end of June 2016, and it was there when he went down with elbow problems. He scored high enough prior to the trade that he rated as a 2016 UTR Organizational All-Star. Good news for Cal League hitters is that Paddack isn’t long for a Double-A promotion. If this dominance continues at the next level, especially after 3-4 starts, stash Paddack quickly.
- Its nice to see Idrogo getting the strikeout machine cranking. The 6’1″ 198 lb lefty tied his career mark from 2016 with 11 K’s last night against Burlington (Angels). Idrogo has been popping up within my system long before launching this site. He was listed back during our days with MLBDepthCharts.coms (now RosterResource.com) “Watch List” way back in 2012. That’s right…at only 22 years old, Irdogo has been in the Tigers system for 7 seasons. With UTRMinors.com, the southpaw was a 2015 and 2016 UTR Organizational All-Star and a return trip as a 2017 “One to Watch” . This is his third straight West Michigan assignment, so its apparent there’s nothing more to prove.
