TOP NL UTR PITCHING PERFORMANCE LHP Wennington Romero (HiA Daytona – Cincinnati) 20 year old 7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
- After only 49.2 innings in the U.S. as a pro in 2016, Romero proved durable in 2017 at LoA Dayton by hurling 136 innings as a 19 year-old. The southpaw was hittable though (153), and saw too many balls (17) leave the yards in the Midwest League. This all takes a back-seat, as the Romero was one of the youngest arms in the MWL and posted an impressive 4.20 K/BB rate. I named Romero as my Reds 2018 “One to Watch”
- Garabito was Kansas City’s #1 UTR Organizational All-Star during our 2014 inaugural season here at UTRMinors. The Royals slowly moved the righty through their system, as he has spent the last 2 seasons at LoA Lexington. That extra refinement of his plus command should pay big dividends this season. Garabito is my Royals 2018 “One to Watch”.
