RHP Vladimir Gutierrez – (19) / HiA Daytona ** As a teenager, Gutierrez put-up bland numbers with the Cuban National Series back in 2013 and 2014. Despite that, the lanky (6’0″ 190 lb) right-hander was listed as one of the top prospects on the International market. The now 21-year old fell off the radar somewhat, as he didn’t pitch for two years (2015/2016), but the Reds signed him as an International free agent at the end of the 2016 season. He wholly handled an aggressive assignment to HiA Daytona this past season by posting a 8.21 K/9 and 1.66 BB/9 rates over 103 innings. 3. LHP Ty Boyles – (16) / HiA Daytona 4. RHP Antonio Santillan – (15) / LoA Dayton 5. RHP Andrew Jordan – (14) / LoA Dayton **Another kid that my system vetted from the 2016 season and was my 2017 “One To Watch” for the Reds. After going 1-5 with a 5.43 ERA with Billings (Pioneer League), Jordan still posted a (10) Factor Score and just missed being named an Organizational All-Star. Top 3 Relief Pitchers – (Factor Score) / Highest Level Attained 1. RHP Tanner Rainey – (31) / AA Pensacola “Solid Stash” **During my tracking period, I remember Rainey was absolutely on fire in April in striking out 20 of the 43 batters he faced, while only walking one over 12 innings (11 appearances). I had to research to see if another relief pitcher ever score this high of a Factor Score, and Rainey nows holds the title. The 6’2″ 235 lb right-hander was a UTR-OAS in 2015 as a starter with LoA Dayton. That came crashing down the following season at HiA Daytona when Rainey was assigned ay HiA Daytona, and posted rates of 9.94 K/9 and 5.75 BB/9 with a 5.57 ERA. The organization wisely tried the 24-year old in the bullpen last season, and look what he did on his way to Double-A Pensacola. If your league values relief pitching, then I would bump my recommendation to a “ASAP Roster Add”. 2. RHP Ryan Hendrix – (26) / HiA Daytona **It always happens…you become focused on a kid like Tanner Rainey and “Bam” another kid, within the system, quietly and blindly posts numbers right on the heels. I was shocked when ran Hendrix’s numbers and how his Factor Score was also one of the highest here at UTRMinors. The 22-year old should continue to season at HiA Daytona to begin the 2018 season and his progress can be tracked here. 3. RHP Joel Kuhnel – (10) / LoA Dayton
