Tampa Bay Rays – 2017 UTR Organizational All-Stars

tampabayrays

Top Lineup – Levels
C – Ronaldo Hernandez – R/R – Rookie Princeton – (The 20-year-old Colombian might be one of my favorite UTR prospects in the entire A.L. East)
1B – Nathaniel Lowe – L/R – LoA Blwling Green/HiA Charlotte
2B – Vidal Brujan – S/R – SS Hudson Valley
3B – Mike Brosseau – R/R – LoA Bowling Green/HiA Charlotte
SS – Zach Rutherford – R/R – Rookie Princeton
LF – Garrett Whitley – R/R – LoA Bowling Green
CF – Carl Chester – R/R – Rookie Princeton/SS Hudson Valley
RF – Ryan Boldt – L/R – HiA Charlotte

Top 5 Starting Pitchers – (Factor Score) / Highest Level Attained

1. LHP Travis Ott(20)  / HiA Charlotte  (2017 One to Watch)  “Solid Stash”
2. LHP  Brock Burke(19) / HiA Charlotte
3. RHP  J.D. Busfield – (15) / LoA Bowling Green
4. LHP Genesis Cabrera – (15) / AA Montgomery  “Legit UTR”
5. RHP Adrian Navas – (12) / LoA Bowling Green
** Navas was my 2016 “One to Watch” for the Rays. He completed his first full season at Bowling Green, posting pedestrian numbers, but in line with his perpherials over 4 seasons as a pro.

Late Season Trade Impact: Tampa Bay parted ways with long-time 3B Evan Longoria. Pieces included in the haul from the Giants was an up & coming infielder in Christian Arroyo and a 22-year old right-hander Stephen Woods (15). Woods would have ranked at #2 UTR-OAS with the Giants. He completed his first full season with LoA Augusta where he stymied lefty hitters (.211) and kept the ball in the yard ( 3 HR in 110 IP).

Top 3 Relief Pitchers – (Factor Score) / Highest Level Attained

1. LHP Dalton Moats – (8) / HiA Charlotte
2. RHP Deivy Mendez – (8) / LoA Bowling Green
3. RHP Spencer Jones – (4) / HiA Charlotte
