- Atkinson got off to a nice start to the 2017 season before Beloit touched him for 7 earned run in 2.1 innings at the end of April. This didn’t deter the organization from promoting the righty who was signed from the Indy League in July 2016. His time with Visalia had some bumps, but otherwise Atkinson handled the advanced league. In 9 starts, the Ohio native went 3-3 with a 3.33 ERA in 48.2 innings and 66 strikeouts plus 18 walks. Atkinson strangely found himself back at LoA Kane County by late June. A closer look at his box scores revels a pitcher who’s thrown well in games, but just didn’t get the run support. He could be a late bloomer for the D-Backs with his low’s 90’s fastball, a wicked breaker, and changeup that is a work in progress. He was twice mentioned during the Two-Start Treasure feature here at UTRMinors.
- Everybody is waiting for the Toussaint that was worth a 1st round pick back in 2014. The Diamondbacks made the pick and and didn’t get the expected results from the young right-hander, so they traded him to Atlanta in 2015. As a project for the Braves, Toussaint had a successful 2016 with LoA Rome. He matched his career-high with 11 K’s last night against St. Lucie. It was his second start in-a-row to touch double digit strikeouts.

- 2017 28th round pick hasnt allowed an earned run in his first 8 appearances (11 IP)
- His 6 innings of hitless ball came on his only second start of the season after making 14 appearances from the bullpen. The 20th round pick in 2016 did see time in the rotation (5 starts) during his pro debut with the AZL Royals in 2016.
