- The 24th round pick from 2013 was assigned to repeat LoA Hagerstown to start the season, but things didn’t go well for the righty (10.95 ERA in 5 appearances). The 2016 UTR Organizational All-Star has begun to right the ship. Over his last 4 starts (23.1 IP), the righty has only allowed 2 earned runs with 15 K’s and 3 walks.
- O’Reilly has entered uncharted waters here at UTRMinors. Today’s POD Mention is his 5th in as many starts, as no other pitcher has come near that accomplishment since my tracking began 4 seasons ago. He did get touched for 3 earned runs last night after only allowing one over his last 30 innings prior. Not known as an overpowering type pitcher, the 27th round pick from 2016 has racked up 40 strikeouts in his last 31 innings with only two walks allowed. The Cardinals are know to be patient with young arms, but one has to wonder if O’Reilly will see the next level this season, and how his stuff will play-up in the Florida State League. Could it be that O’Reilly will arrive at Palm Beach in time for the FSL playoffs, the HiA Cardinals were the division winners in the first half of the season.
