Season Stats: 2-0, 2.01 ERA, 22.1 IP, 11 H, 5 ER, 11 BB, 23 K in 4 starts
  • After a strong debut 2-16 season in the DSL, Colina is beginning to pickup momentum in the Appy League, only allowing one earned run over his last 18 innings.

HiA
LHP Cristian Castillo (Wilmington – Kansas City) 22 years old
8 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, Win 6-4, 2.61 ERA
  • Castillo was my Royals “One to Watch” and an Organizational All-Star in 2016, here is my blurb from that post: Castillo was my top rated DSL pitcher after the 2015 season and the easy choice for the 2016 “One to Watch” list. He was the DSL Pitcher of the Year in 2015 and added more hardware in getting the same award in the Appy League in 2016. 2017 could be huge year for the lefty. An aggressive assignment at HiA Wilmington for his first full season hasn’t posed any issues yet.

Top Relief Pitcher Performance
LHP Eugenio Palma (AZL Cubs – Chicago) 20 years old
3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K

RADAR BLIP
LHP Anthony Marzi (LoA Cedar Rapids – Minnesota) 24 years old
7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, Win 2-0, 0.66 ERA
  • Marzi was signed by the Yankees in February 2015 and released after only 6 appearances (7.1 IP) with the GCL Yankees prior to the 2016 season. He didn’t return to the pro ranks until the Twins came calling this past June, pulling him away from the Independent League. Time and the development clock are against him, but for being away for a year, he’s looked strong.
