UTRMinors – Top National League Pitchers for June 2017

Here is the National League edition of pitchers who had the best UTR performances for June 2017. The American League will be posted soon. This month saw some movement of prospects into Double-A which limited the pool of top ranked prospects to be selected. Four teams below did not have a top prospect UTR to mention for June. Just one pitcher returns to the list from April (Padres Joey Lucchesi) and two made it back-to-back appearances from May (Marlins Trevor Richards & Cardinals Mike O’Reilly). The Washington Nationals’ McKenzie Mills returns again to make in 3-in-a row. For a system limited with arms in their Top 30, Mills maybe worth a stash before the end of the season
The new addition for 2017 is the inclusion of two pitchers for each team. We try our very best to follow the UTR criteria that we set forth when we created UTRMinors. That baseline criteria which differentiates the top prospect vs. an Under the Radar player is simply this: any player ranked in a system’s Top 10 or drafted above the 5th round is considered a top prospect….all others are under the radar kids. Of course, there could be a circumstance where the best top prospect performance may come from a pitcher that falls below this criteria. In this case, the top prospect would be those ranked within that teams Top 30 based by Baseball America.
