RHP Jol Concepcion (GCL Blue Jays – Toronto) 18 years old 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, Win 2-0, 0.82 ERA
- The Blue Jays quickly brought the lanky, but projectable 6′ 5″- 195 lb. righty over to the States after just 17 innings in the DSL. In 4 DSL starts, Concepcion threw 17 innings (8 hits) with 22 strikeouts and only 3 walks. Keep an eye upon this youngster.
- Salaman is getting noticed here at UTRMinors. Yesterday was a nice bounce back outing for the Puerto Rican native after allowing 6 ER in 3 innings. This is the second AZL mention (June 13th) for Salaman, who also made the Two-Start Treasure feature.
Pioneer League RHP Chris Rodriguez (Orem – Los Angeles Angels) 18 years old 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, Win Season Stats: 1-1, 9.82 ERA, 11 IP, 14 H, 12 ER, 3 BB, 11 K in 3 starts
- Last season’s 4th round pick look good in short stints in 2016 with the AZL Angels (11.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 17 K in 7 apps with 5 starts). As you can see from his stat line above, things didn’t start well this season giving up 7 ER in 2 innings in his 2017 opener.
- Grey was a 20th round pick in 2016 and has already seen action at Triple-A Reno (2 apps/1 start) and HiA Visalia (1 start) before being returned to Hillsboro to repeat. No real indication from last season (where he posted pedestrian numbers in the Pioneer League and Hillsboro) that would think he was ready for such an assignment.
