RADAR BLIP
LHP Thomas Szapucki (LoA Columbia – New York Mets) 21 years old
6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 10 K, 2.82 ERA
  • Szapucki maybe a blip in 2017, but he was loud and clear on the radar in 2016. The 10 K’s last night didn’t achieve a career-high because the 5th rounder (2015) reached double-digit strikeout totals in 5 of his 6 starts in 2016. The signal started with his Appy League (Kingsport) debut last June with a 13 K effort in 6 scoreless innings. Szapucki ended up with 86 strikeouts over 52 innings across two levels. This shot the southpaw 2016 UTR-OAS up the Mets’ prospect ranking, cracking into the Top 10 #8 to begin 2017.
