After a slow start to the season (6.43 ERA in April), the right-hander got hot in May (1.18 ERA), missing bats with 4:1 K:BB ratio in 38 innings and a 0.97 WHIP. The 6’1″- 200lb. Columbian has seen limited work across his pro career, especially the last two seasons with 62 IP in 2015 (GCL) and 65.2 IP in 2016.

- Quiala has been hop-scotching from the bullpen to make starts, but it hasn’t mattered. The bulky right-hander (6’3″- 235 lbs) has been strong in both capacities going 3-1 (2.52 ERA) as a starter and 2-0 (1.89 ERA) in relief. In his last 26.1 innings, Quiala has only allowed 3 earned runs in 5 appearances.
- The non-drafted free agent signee in 2013 picked up a career-high 11 strikeouts last night.
