- Woods shakes-off the hangover of allowing 6 earned runs in only 1.1 innings during his last start on May 30th. That totally skewed in what was another decent month for the 8th round pick in 2016. After posting a 3.00 ERA, but issuing 15 walks in 21 innings in April, Woods was looking at 2.95 ERA in 18.1 innings with only 6 walks before that horrific performance to end the month. He’s had bouts with wildness and control issues since coming out of SUNY Albany and currently has 11 wild pitches on his stat line. He can command a 94 mph fastball and a plus curveball for strikes and set a career-high with 10 K’s on May 21st.

- Dunning suffers his first loss of the year, but achieves double-digit K’s for the second time since hitting a career-high 13 strikeouts on April 13th. You look at that line and scratch your head, how’d that happen? Dunning was victim of a throwing error, which allowed a base-runner after giving up base-hit to start the game. Carolina(Milwaukee) top prospect then jacked a 3-run homer to the unearned runs and 3-0 lead and Winston-Salem couldn’t overcome. Dunning is the Sox’s 11th ranked prospect and was the UTR Top Pitching Prospect for April. RHP Alfred Gutierrez (LoA West Michigan – Detroit) 21 years old 5.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 3.42 ERA- Gutierrez is experiencing yo-yo outings, as just about every other start, the Venezuelan righty has allowed 4 earned runs or more, since April 27th. You can overlook that with his 54:3 K:BB rate in 50 innings of work. Gutierrez bounced back after surrendering 4 home runs last time out on May 30th. This is his second AL POD mention – May 10th
