Under the Radar Hitters of the Day – April 19, 2017

National League – Top Hitter of the Day

  • Tommy Edman, SS – LoA Peoria Chiefs (STL) – Midwest League/Western
    • 4-6, 2 3B, 2B, 4R, 2RBi
    • 2016 UTR OAS
    • The switch-hitting 6th rounder out of Stanford leads all Midwest League shortstops in total bases (24) and also leads the league in triples with three. All coming from a college polished prospect who found himself left off of several pre-season publication’s top 20/30 lists.

    • The 2016 UTR Organizational All-Star leads the Midwest League with 37 total bases, 19 hits, 16 RBi’s and is tied for the overall home run lead with Great Lakes (LAD) right fielder Carlos Rincon. I predicted that Jones would begin with Short Season Vancouver this season. Despite my overlooking Jones’ aggressive promotion, I’m not the least bit surprised at his early season production.
