TOP AL UTR PITCHING PERFORMANCE

LHP Alex Winkelman (HiA Buies Creek – Houston) 23 years old
6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K
Seasons Stats: 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 14.1 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 21 K 3 appearances with 2 starts
  • Winkelman was taken in the 21st round in 2015 and posted a 7-2 record with a 3.93 ERA across two rookie league levels, alomg with a 10.1 K9 rate. He almost held the same K/9 rate in 2016, but struggled with his control giving up 41 walks over 76 innings. He was progressing nicely in 2016 from LoA to HiA before hitting the DL on June 1st. The lefty spent rehabbing back in the GCL and Short-Season Tri-City before making it back to Hi-A and working from the bullpen. Winkelman whiffed a career-high 10 batters last night. So far, his control troubles are behind him with 21 strikeouts and one walk over 14.1 innings to start the season.

American League – Starters
RHP Aaron Civale (LoA Lake County – Cleveland) 21 years old
6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1.65 ERA, Win 1-0
  • As one of our Reddit readers stated about the Indians farm “This is system is so deep.” That’s when Shane Bieber was the POD on April 14th; and it was only a matter of ‘when’ before Civale’s (#20 prospect) name appeared on this list.

6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 0.45 ERA, Win 1-0
  • The White Sox’s 11th ranked prospect makes his third mention in as many starts. His first two starts, (April 8th and April 13th) Dunning was named Top AL UTR-POD.
LHP Gregory Soto (LoA West Michigan – Detroit) 22 years old
6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

LHP Joe Palumbo (HiA Down East – Texas) 22 years old

  • Rangers #9 prospect was the UTR-POD on April 12th
  • 2016 and 2014 UTR-Organizational All-Star
LHP Thomas Pannone (HiA Lynchburg – Cleveland) 22 years old
5.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 0.00 ERA, 1-0
  • The audition for Double-A Akron should be complete. Is the organization planning for Pannone to make the short road trip from Lynchburg to Richmond when the RubberDucks visit the Flying Squirrels in late June?
