July 31, 2016 – Under the Radar Pitcher Performances

We close the books on July, so work begins to find out who will be the best UTR pitchers for the month. Watch for this posting in the coming days.

DSL
No Games Scheduled

Gulf Coast League
RHP Luis De Los Santos (GCL Mets – New York) 22 years old
7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 2.89 ERA, Win 2-3

Arizona League
RHP Luis Ledo (AZL White Sox – Chicago) 21 years old
6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 1.55 ERA, Win 3-2
TOP AL UTR PITCHING PERFORMANCE

Appy League
RHP Frederis Parra (Johnson City – St. Louis) 21 years old
7.2 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2.52 ERA

Pioneer League
RHP Chris Comito (Great Falls – Chicago White Sox) 20 years old
5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 2.74 ERA, Win 4-1
I’m not 100% sure how the Pioneer League goes about choosing their All-Star roster, but I believe Chris Comito was snubbed. Could have it been that he saw nine starts at LoA Kannapolis, but was sent to Great Falls shortly after the Pioneer season got underway? Whatever the case, the 15th round pick in 2015 has been as good as those that will pitch tomorrow night. In his 7 starts, he has posted a 2.74 ERA in 42.2 innings with 39 H, 13 ER, 6 BB, 43 K and picking up a league-leading 4th win last night. He is among the Top 5 in most pitching categories (W, IP, ERA, WHIP, SO). I have already broken down the Pioneer League roster and working on the Northwest League for posting tomorrow. This is the first year that these two Leagues will meet in an All-Star setting.

Short-Season League
LHP Thomas Szapucki (NY-Penn League Brooklyn – New York Mets) 20 years old
7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, Loss 1-1
TOP NL UTR PITCHING PERFORMANCE
Szapucki didnt get any help from the Cyclone bats last night, as four Aberdeen pitchers limited Brooklyn to two hits and put a spoiler to a dominate outing. The 5th round (2015) pick hasn’t allowed an earned run since coming over the NY-Penn (12.1 IP) and has hit double-digit strikeouts three times this season, setting the career-high last night.

LoA
RHP Gage Hinsz (West Virginia – Pittsburgh) 20 years old
5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K, 3.26 ERA, Win 4-5

HiA
RHP Yency Almonte (Modesto – Colorado) 22 years old
7 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 11 K, Win 8-8
Top Relief Pitcher Performance
RHP Jess Amedee (West Virgina – Pittsburgh)
2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, Hold (3)

RADAR BLIP
RHP Osmer Morales (Bakersfield – Seattle) 23 years old
6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, Win 3-3
