I attended this game last night, but not to see Farinaro. The Spikes took on the Williamsport Crosscutters who had Adonis Medina on the mound, who was 4-0 with a 1.14 ERA. I was actually attending a group function, so right off the bat, I knew would have been difficult to devote my attention to Medina. Thanks to Tommy Edman, Elier Rodriguez, and some sloppy play by the Crosscutters ( 3 errors in 3 innings) there wasn’t much to watch. Edman touched Medina with a lead-off triple and Rodriguez got him for a 3-run homer in the 3rd to help the Spikes extend their Divison lead over Williamsport by 3 games. Medina struggled with control in taking his first loss of the season. He served the ball up in the zone for Edman, Rodriguez, and a 4th inning RBI double to Vince Jackson and was down 7-2 before getting the hook to start the 5th inning. Of the seven runs, only three were earned due to 3 throwing errors in the first three frames. Farinaro (4.80 ERA), on the other hand, is hittable but just seems to get the job done in picking-up his 5th win over 8 starts. I should have paid more attention to him last night, as he had his best outing of the season, but once the Spikes started flowing……so was the free beer.
