July 12, 2016 – Under the Radar Pitcher Performances

By Jim Brown
We haven’t had a light schedule here at UTRMinors for some time, and compound the fact that the weather across the country has been decent, eliminating postponements….today’s tracking was a nice reprieve. There were 4 levels that didn’t schedule games last night, so its possible most teams had a bonding exercise with some clubhouses watching the MLB All-Star game. There were several pitchers on the A-S rosters that I highlighted during their time in the minors. This was when we were providing content to Jason Martinez at MLBDepthCharts/RosterResourse.com. For the American League, it was Marco Estrada (Toronto) during his time in Washington, Brad Brach (Baltimore) who was with the Padres early-on. If you have been with us since 2009, you know that Marc and I tracked the National League exclusively during our early years. So, of course…the National League roster had a host of past UTR’s in San Diego. Those are: Julio Teheran (Atlanta), Jeurys Familia (Mets), Kenley Jansen (Dodgers), Mark Melancon (Pirates), A.J. Ramos (Marlins).
With the limited schedule today, I gave you an extra mention in the DSL, where two pitchers had outings with double-digit K’s and each scored that was too close to call for the mention today. The rest of my spare time will be spent on drafting my next article…..a report card on my preseason “One to Watch” list. As I proclaimed sometime back when the season started, that “this year’s selections could be the best yet”…..just might be coming true. Numerous OTW’s have been highlighted during my breakdowns, so it should be interesting. Look for this to be posted soon, hopefully this weekend.
