  • Gabriel Mejia, CF – AZL Indians (CLE) – Rookie Arizona League – 19 yo;
    • 4-5, 2B, 3R, 3 SB (22)
    • Mejia is maintaining his (1+ SB/G) pace adding three more bags to his resume last night vs. the AZL Padres.  He’s averaging 1.1 SB/G in 2015; which is a slight tick above his 1.04 career average. Mejia’s current SB/G average is actually higher than that of Cincinnati’s Billy Hamilton after the same amount of career minor league games (94) yet the difference so far is Hamilton’s bat was always in question. Hamilton’s highest recorded batting average was in 2010 where he posted a .318 average in 69 games with Rookie Billings, 38 pts. higher than his career minor league average of .280.  In Mejia’s 2014 debut season, he batted .335 in 70 games with the DSL Indians. This year, he’s hitting .395 stateside with the AZL.  By the way, he’s not all bat and speed. Mejia has committed only 3 career outfield errors. So, if you’re in a deep level fantasy league looking for a single or two-category minor league ‘stud’, Mejia is a must-add; or at least should be an immediate bookmark. Mejia places me in the same frame of mind when UTR PAG plucked out Oakland OF Billy Burns as a Breakout Star while he was in the Washington system in 2012. Looks like things worked out for him quite well, as he’s a mainstay in Oakland’s everyday (major league) lineup.

    • 3-3, 3B (6), 3R, 2RBi, BB
  • Julio Medrano, CF-3B – DSL Indians (CLE) – Dominican Summer League – 19 yo;
    • 3-4, 3B (3), 2B, 2R, 4RBi, BB, K
  • Zander Wiel, 1B – Rookie Elizabethton (MIN) – Appalachian League – 22 yo;
    • 2-4, HR (1), R, 3RBi, BB, K
  • Ryan Bottger, 1B – LoA Quad Cities (HOU) – Midwest League – 22 yo;
    • 3-5, HR (5), 2R, 2RBi
