  • A.J. Reed, 1B – HiA Lancaster JetHawks (HOU) – California League – 22 yo;  (2014 Org. All-Star)
    • Not only did the 6’4″ – 240 lb. beast overtake the Cal League home run lead (16) with last nights blast, he also added to his league leading totals in RBi’s (59), walks (42) and OB% (.424). Oh, and if you didn’t already notice, Reed hit for his first career cycle last night too! Certainly a 2015 Cal League MVP candidate.
    • 4-4, HR (16), 3B (3), 2B, 2R, 3RBi, BB
  • Jacob Nottingham, DH – LoA Quad Cities River Bandits (HOU) – Midwest League – 20 yo;
    • 2-4, HR (10), R, 3RBi, 2BB, K
    • With the exception of top prospects Brett Phillips and A.J. Reed listed above, I’m not sure there’s an Astro’s hitters who has elevated his prospect status more this season than the Redlands, CA native Nottingham. After running Nottingham’s numbers from his pro debut he’s been on a continuous statistical climb ever since, never showing a decrease in production (2013 – 2.75; 2014 – 2.94; 2015 – 4.04) which is rare for even the most highly drafted prospects. Shockingly, Nottingham came into this season un-ranked in Baseball America’s Prospect Handbook. He was the 25th ranked prospect in MLB Pipeline’s Astros Top 30 and was a no-show inside Baseball Prospectus’ pre-season prospect rankings.  So, I’ll be happy to be the town cryer for a kid worthy of much more attention than he’s gotten up to this point.
  • Joseph DeCarlo, 3B – LoA Clinton Lumberkings (SEA) – Midwest League – 21 yo;
    • 2-3, HR (7), R, 2RBi, 2BB
