July 3, 2014 – UTR Hitter Performances (1st Solo Attempt)

Seven years ago during a conversation over breakfast, on the morning before the PFL draft, thats when the catalyst began…. that someday Marc and I would be doing what where doing. The opportunity presented itself a year later when MLBDepthCharts.com  launched and we pitched our UTR idea to Jason Martinez, who we will be forever grateful to allow us to spread the “under the radar” word. We had a plan in place how we were going to handle the division of work…Marc would take the hitters and I, of course, the pitchers. Now that we have this site, we never discussed how we would handle the absences of one another…until the trip back from Pittsburgh. That’s when I casually stated “Hey….when I’m checking the pitching boxes and none of them qualify, I’ll look at the hitters and post the ones who had a decent game”. Sounded simple, didn’t it?…Well, with the in-depth work that we do, I should thought about it and not projected it with words. I must have been thinking we were still doing the NL-only and I wasn’t lying the other day when I said that Marc had a yeoman’s job. I found out today…..when I had to check “every” boxscore…and thats not running stats through his PAG formula.

So. here’s my first attempt (thank goodness it fell on a Holiday) of bringing you some of the best hitters from yesterday’s game. Please be mindful that the regular posting schedule will not be the same in the coming week. Marc would usually post around noon-time and then mine in the early evening. This week, both hitter and pitcher performances will be posted during the mid-evening hours, approx. 9 PM East Coast Time. My main concentration will be towards the pitchers, so please forgive me if I might have missed a hitter. They will be just a pure mention with no formula attached to their stats. Of course, I will hold true to the UTR criteria.
