Brandon Sinnery (HiA Visalia – Arizona) 24 years old 9 Innings, 7 Hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, Win (4-2) – .111 TPS * Sinnery makes a UTR mention for the second time this week. On May 4th, he set a career high with 9 strikeouts over 7 IP and then comes out last night for a complete game shutout. As I stated, the 6’4″ 170 lbs right-hander signed out of the Independent League by the D-Backs in 2013 where he split time between LoA South Bend and HiA Visalia. Sinnery posted a .121 TPS in 2013, so he is showing slight improvement thus far. His TPS up-ticked (-.004) since his last start, mainly due to the strikeouts not keeping pace with his K9 rate (7.1). Main concern so far this season is that Sinnery’s groundball rate has decreased, so he putting the ball more into the outfield. This is alarming as he gave up 16 HR’s last season. We also must caution any harsh criticism, as he is pitching the in the hitter-friendly environs of the California League. I rated Sinnery’ s ceiling as an organizational filler, but I may need to rein back somewhat. If he continues to improve, the D-Back’s might have an innings-eater. Let’s put Sinnery on the watch list and await a Double-A promotion. SP Jarrett Miller (HiA Lynchburg – Atlanta) 24 years old 7 Innings, 3 Hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 12 K, Win (1-3) – .095 TPS *21st round pick in 2011 sets a career high in strikeouts. SP Frank Lopez (LoA Hickory – Texas) 20 years old 7 Innings, 2 Hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K * Career High – .079 TPS * Another pitcher making his second UTR POD appearances this week. As I stated in my May 3rd post….Lopez is one to keep an eye on. RP James Pugliese (LoA Kane County – Chicago Cubs) 21 years old 3 Innings, 0 Hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, Win (1-0) 0.73 ERA – .057 TPS *Shifted into the bullpen after seeing 34 starts in 45 appearances since 2011 and may have found a role in long relief.
